Johnson Consulting - Real Estate Consulting

Project Highlights

  • Market and financial analysis for the development of a new hockey arena and facilities for other sports programs, as move to Division 1 is contemplated
  • Performing economic and fiscal impact analysis
  • Advising on development strategies and potential funding strategies

The University of Nebraska-Omaha currently uses the CenturyLink Center (formerly the Quest Center) as its venue for the men’s hockey program. The venue has proven to be less than ideal size for the program and it is not on the University campus. Also, the revenue splits from specialty seating are biased towards the City.

Johnson Consulting was retained to perform a market and financial analysis for a proposed Sports Complex for the University. The new facility will be the new home for University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey and basketball teams. The development will feature a 7,000-seat arena, plus a supplemental second ice sheet that can be used by the athletic program and other community and student or campus programs. The complex would also contain a multi-court indoor sports pavilion, athletic offices, and other support amenities.

Johnson Consulting is providing a market analysis and operating projections and is advising on economic impacts and potential financing strategies. We are working with 360 Architects to prepare a site plan, physical program and cost estimate. We also advised on UNO’s ability to increase its athletic budget from $8,000,000 to $12,000,000 as it planned to move to Division 1 and open new sports facilities.
