PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Johnson Consulting has conducted a number of assignments relating to the expansion plan and ongoing operations of the Moscone Center. For the expansion funding plan we conducted research regarding funding models used across the country to fund convention center expansion, with a particular focus on the funding model used in Chicago to expand McCormick Place. Ultimately, a special funding district was created in San Francisco and an increase in hotel taxes in this district was enacted by the hotels in the district, dedicated to the expansion of Moscone Center.
Most recently, Johnson Consulting conducted an operational and performance efficiency study to help the City and County identify ways in which to improve an already industry leading convention center. The financial, operational, and benchmarking study that was conducted identified a number of recommendations that will allow for several million dollars of increased revenue opportunities, improved customer relations, and long-term operating strategies to help maintain and improve the continuity of operations.
